WOLFEN
This page includes both factions of wolfen.

WOLFEN HUNTER
This model was done with very similar flesh tones as the VPC wolfen I did a month or so ago.  I really like the understated look it gives to the flesh, allowing all the accessories to stand out.  I decided to accentuate his fierce face by painting it in red war paint.  More pics can be seen here.

ONYX
Well I finally got around to doing this fantastic model.  I think he was one of the first Confrontation models I saw on the net and he remains one of my favorites.  The grey highlights were achieved by simply adding white to black in 10+ blends.  I wanted his base to have a sense of movement that accentuated his own pose and decided on a waterfall.  It is my first attempt at water done in this way and I am pretty happy with it.  More pictures can be found here.

VPC GRAVE GUARDIAN
This model was done in a more natural/subtle scheme with loads of earth tones.  I still did NMM but for the most part it is a softer more natural looking model.  The idea behind the base was he was stepping into a rising surf to defend his burial site.  Most of the earth tones were achieved by mixing a few colours in different ways yielding many final shades.  More pictures can be found here.

RODEUR WOLFEN
This model is similar in many ways to the one a few models lower in this gallery but also very different.  The robe colour is very dark giving the model a more dangerous feel.  The skin is also a shade darker lending to the darker nature of this model.  The pattern work is more natural and flowing giving the model more of an exotic feel.  The base is obviously very different with this model being posed on a twisted old tree trunk.  For more pictures of this model and a run through of the painting process with pictures look here.

RODEUR WOLFEN
I have had a number of requests from clients in Europe to paint this amazing model.  Once I saw the picture I was very interested to paint him.  This is yet another model in the Wolfen range that has fantastic style and character.  He was painted in a similar style to the one used by Rackham with some alterations.  The gold hunters trim on his robe is different as is the reflective NMM of the hunting blade.  The base sets of the pose of this model superbly.  He is balanced perfectly on one leg, resting on a rocky ledge as he surveys his hunting area.  The blue water of the stream was done to look like flowing winter water with its reflection of the sky and snow.  More pictures can be found here.

GRAVE GUARDIAN
The wolfen continue to call for me to paint them.  This is a great model with a fantastic pose and huge weapons!  He is hunched way over and to prevent him from looking small I placed him atop a Wolfen tomb.  It fits perfectly with his character and makes him look so much better.  The tomb is rough worked stone with primitive flowing designs carved into the rock.  His musculature is fantastic and I decided to paint him in a dark grey/black scheme so that it really stood out.  The huge minotaur head is painted like sun bleached bone to give the model a strong focal point.  More pictures can be found here.

SACRED VESTAL
This model represents the tightest paint scheme I have ever used and I like the effect.  The cohesiveness is something that is not present in most of my pieces.  I decided early on that I wanted to do a number of shades of teal on her and to only us silver NMM.  This model is very similar to the Wolfen Vestal in Gallery V.  My goal was to create a 'sister' model that is practicing on the same beach but in the stormy winter vs the calm summer.  While I was not a big fan of the pose originally it has grown on me during the painting process.  There are four different shades of teal, all originating from the same base paint.  The model was a real study of paint blending and mixing.  So, for those of you that request colours and such, I honestly don't know with this model.  The base was Scaly Green [from GW] and other than that you will have to experiment.  More pictures can be found here.

ECLIPSANT
This model was done for the CCIV.  As you can see I worked a lot on the composition of the model posing her on a base that is as tall as she is.  This might be seen as excessive, and yet, for this model the over all effect is striking.  Her dance pose, standing on one leg, maintains the slender appearance of the column.  I did a very light aqua blue NMM for the blade that I was happy with.  The column was done to look like rose marble and the creeper vines and ruined stone work of the base give it a very old look.  More pictures can be found here.

MASTER of CARNAGE
Another brilliant model from Rackham.  The style that has been stressed in the relatively simple sculpt is fantastic.  He looks like he is stalking his opponent without any thought as to his own safety.  This sense of confidence is what drew me to the model in the first place.  I painted him standing atop two rocks that are amid a glowing green liquid.  I used the liquid as a source of light for the model giving him a strong under glow.  Due to the pose I was able to justify leaving his outer arms un-illuminated.  This allowed me to emphasize the nature of the source of light.  This More pictures of the model can be found here.

Asgarh, pack leader is a very imposing model.  I guess all the Wolfen are imposing but this guy seems to personify the savagery of the race.  IMHO his weapons are too big [I never thought I'd say that] but he still looks good.  The crescent moon icon on his back is very cool and from a story line point of view is a fantastic detail.  I reposed the model to be standing on a stone in running water.  This pose makes it look as though he is ready to lunge at the enemy.  I painted red war paint on his face and swirled patterns on his arms.  I think this just adds to the savagery of the model.  More pics can be found here.

The three devourers were a real treat to paint.  Other than getting over the huge gorget I loved painting these models.  The continued sense of style that the Rackham sculptors put into their models is amazing.  These models, like most Confrontation figs seemingly paint themselves.  More pics of all three can be found here.

Zieren front.jpg (49577 bytes)I have not deviated too far from the image that Confrontation painters have portrayed their models until now.  This model inspired me to do something totally different and to support the scheme I even have a bit of a tale to tell.  More pics and the story of the model can be found here.

Awakened front left.jpg (57447 bytes)This model is so menacing!  I just love the hunched over stalking pose.  I went with an American Southwest look to the base, with rounded red stones, sand and a cactus.  I did his armour in what seemed like a 100 layers of red to achieve the smooth blend.  The blades were done in a crystal scheme vs the standard NMM so I could try something new.  I am very happy with the blades and was able to develop another interesting weapon technique.  It has also been a while since I did muscle striations and so I figured they would be perfect for this model.  More pics can be found here.

Vastal Front left.jpg (49796 bytes)The wolfen Vastal is another of the female wolfen that were released only recently.  While they are quite tall they are much slimmer than the male wolfen.  This aspect of their physiology makes them look more like dancers than warriors.  However, this model has enough muscle tone to make any body builder jealous.  The scenic base is that of a rocky beach with small waves rippling and breaking through a gap in the rocks.  So the front side has the waves and the back side has the sea foam.  More pictures can be found here

Ashan'tyr front.jpg (49080 bytes)I am very happy with this model.  From the minimal highlighting and shadowing to the pattern work this figure really came together well.  The tree trunk is my first attempt at a sculpted tree and friends say it looks real.  I am most happy with the NMM copper of the waist symbol.  It is my first attempt at this effect and it came out brilliantly.  More pics can be found here
