Story for my
tournament Tau
The Tau of the Fal’Shia sept are well known and highly
respected artisans and problem solvers. Fal’Shia
suffered grievous losses to the tyranid invasion of 742.M41.
In the 30 years since the repulsion of the hive fleets by the Humans of
the Imperium, Fal’Shia has returned to it’s former glory as the mostly
respected artisan sept.
The fire warriors of Fal’Shia have a high number of combat veterans and
decorated heroes in their ranks after the constant struggle with the tyranids.
Commander Shas’o Fal’Shia Yi’Tsuo was a Shas’ui at the time of
the great struggle in the ranks of a Fire Warrior squad.
It is during this time that he distinguished himself as a brilliant
tactician and leader of men. As is common among the Tau, Yi’Tsuo was promoted
through the ranks as befit his skill not his lineage.
Yi’Tsuo is not only an accomplished warrior but a well respected sculptor in
the Empire. His work often depicts
the aliens he has encountered as an envoy guard to Aun Fal’Shia Lo’Xi Sama
of the Ethereal caste. As an envoy
guard he has encountered humans, eldar, necrons, orcs and tyranids.
In each case he has committed to memory the likeness of these aliens and
his sculptures are of unsurpassed realism.
As a sculptor Yi’Tsuo understands that to defeat an enemy you must conquor his
actions and understand his desire. When
shaping stone into a fine statue a sharp blow with a chisel can destroy weeks of
work so Yi’Tsuo has adopted Kauyon [the patient hunter] as his combat
doctrine. He allows the movement of the enemy to carry them into well
placed fire zones and then uses their momentum to propel them further into his
ever tightening web.
As befits someone of Yi’Tsuo’s rank and dangerous duty assignments he has a
large number of decorated heroes [Shas’vre] in his cadre as well as many
combat veterans [Shas’ui]. These
Fire Warriors and there troops [Shas’la] are the only component of the
Qxi’Hokon cadre that guard the Aun [Ethereal]. Kroot are not included since their savage nature is not seen
to be advantageous during negations with aliens.
Two of Yi’Tsuo’s family members are in his hunter cadre serving him since he
has been a Shas’ui. His brother
is a Broadside pilot renown for his prowess with a rail gun.
He has extensively altered his battle suit reversing the positions of the
rail guns and the smart missile pods. He
is one of the few broadside pilots from Fal’Shia that has adopted the ‘sharp
hand’ doctrine of firing both his rails and his smart missiles at the same
time. The other family member in the cadre is Yi’Tsuo’s Uncle,
Ki’Sun. He is now a member of
Yi’Tsuo’s honour guard and is fiercely loyal to his nephew. He has on two occasions, saved the commander by unleashing
volley after volley of plasma rifle bursts and missiles into enemy at point
blank range, allowing the commander to jump to safety.
The
council of Fal’Shia have sent Yi’Tsuo and his elite cadre to guard Aun
Fal’Shia Lo’Xi Sama as he travels as an envoy into the western sphere.
This is an area of space that has had little if any exposure to the Tau
and Yi’Tsuo is counting on this inexperience to carry him to many victories in
the coming months. And while
Yi’Tsuo is hoping for a peaceful voyage he knows that peace is something few
Fire Warriors get to experience. Secretly
he hopes to encounter new races so he can add to his collection of sculptures
and expand the art of Fal’Shia. He
boards the Manta Missile Cruiser wishing for the success of the mission and the
greater good of the empire.
