SCULPTING GALLERY

CHAOS
GIANT
May 2007
This model is a great example of how small sculpting changes can completely
alter a model. I wanted this model to look very close to the original when
it was done and I think that I have achieved this. I gave the model 2
heads and this required some work to the upper back/neck area. He also has
some spines protruding from his upper back and horns were added to the left
head. I added parts from six models to complete the over all look.

LORD
CESIUS
the PLAGUEBRINGER
April 2007
As I search for the perfect Nurgle Demon prince I am creating some really cool
one off models. This model continues the trend of the Tyranid mouth but
sees a much larger overall head. I wanted this pose to look like he is
bearing down on the enemy and I think the slight hunch and the weapon pose
succeed in that. I am fond of the spore stacks on his shoulder and suspect
that will find it's way into the final model. I really do like the 2h
weapon as well as it brings the model 'together'. More pictures can be
found here.
RPG
CHAIN CONVERSION
February 2007
This model is a Rackham model that I have added 3 sections of chain and a ball
to. It has been built to reflect the items the character has for the game.
He has magic gauntlets that are quite large, so I used GW hands since they are
sculpted large. I then altered the position of his right arm so that the
pose would look more dynamic.

REKISS the RIPE
January 2007
I was browsing at a local game store when I came across the Nurgle Demon Prince.
Somehow he must have slipped out without me being aware because I was surprised
to see him. I like the model, except for the head, so I got him and set
about altering him. I reposed his sword and sword arm, gave him blades on
his right hand [from the FW Blood Thirster model] and completely resculpted his
head. I used a few horns from the Blood Thirster and the jaw from a
Tyranid Carnifex. I think this model is one of the most ferocious I have
done. More pictures can be found here.
TREE
TRUNK
December 2006
This is going to be quite a large base. I am using a 1 3/16th" piece of
solid iron bar as a form. This makes the model extremely heavy and
centered for weight. As I sculpt the bark I will post more pictures.
Additional pictures can be found here.
MINOTAUR
UNIT
Sept 2006
This unit was done for a Slaanesh beastman army. The minotuars are from
the Rackham line and required some pretty major work to be able to wield 2h
weapons and rank up. Each model has some alteration to make it look
different from the rest of the models in the unit. Some have different
horns, hair, arm poses, extra hide armour bits, etc. The unit taken as a
whole is very menacing and will look great on a gaming table. More
pictures can be found here.
WOOD
ELF ARMY STANDARD
Sept 2006
When I originally decided to do an army standard for the wood elf army I was
going to do the normal kind of standard. I pictured a flowing banner
blowing in the wind. However, as I contemplated the image I felt that a
totemic tree style banner would suit the army better. Since the standard
will mostly be with the tree men I decided to use a large base and this allowed
me the freedom to create a large model. I really enjoyed sculpting the
organic tree and I feel the roots really give the model a completed look.
More pictures can be found here.
WOLFGUARD
BATTLE LEADER THORER
July 2006
This model is mostly a conversion but I did do extensive base sculpting as well
as some pelts on the beast and terminator armour. Since the model is way
too big for a 40mm base I put it on a 60mm and sculpted many large boulders.
The model is actually on an outcropping of rock that helps to denote the actual
40mm base size. I have wanted to mount a space wolf on some kind of
organic beast [rather than a bike] for some time. I toyed with the idea of
many creatures but settled on this one since it is so menacing. I ground
off a bunch of chaos detailing and added many pieces of SW iconry so that it
fits the part. More pictures can be found
here.

DARK
ELF NOBLE ON PEGASUS
July 2006
This base was designed to give the model a real sense of life. I love the
dynamic nature of the Bretonnian pegasus models and feel the base must enhance
the sense of motion. Since the Dark Elves are a marauding army that is
always in motion I felt that a rocky base with waves crashing around it would be
perfect.
=I=
SCALE COMMISSAR
October 2004
Well it has been some time since I have done enough sculpting to justify pics in
this gallery. This model was a load of fun and was quite challenging.
As you can see I used a lot of bits form other =I= models as well as a bolt
pistol from the bolter accessory blister. I also used some FW skull icons
and 40K icons as well to fully transform the Kal Jerico model into a commissar.
Both the power fist and hat took 3 stages and lots of time. I think that
the hat was the hardest out of the two but both were challenging. More
pictures can be found here.
INQUISITOR
DARIUS
June 2004
This model was the most difficult sculpt I have attempted yet. The main
reason for this is because I was looking at actual breast plates, helmuts and
cloaks of the period. Having an example to work from is a good thing when
it comes to historical accuracy but man is it ever more challenging. Even
while trying to maintain a sense of realism I was unable to 'copy' the new parts
exactly. More pictures can be found
here.
SLAANESH
BEAST CHAOS GIANT
June 2004
This model is very large and was a lot of fun to work on. My largest
obstacle was to make him look less like the Forgeworld Bloodthirster and more
like a beast gaint. Well, not only was this model reposed but some areas
had to be built from scratch and the tone of the model had to be captured.
If you want to read more of what I did to this massive model and see more pics
go here.
SLANN
MAGE PRIEST BASE
March 2004
This base was done so that it accentuated the floating throne of the Slann
without being a focus. The ruined look of a Slann structure fallen into
the jungle with leaves and roots fits the bill perfectly. Another shot
from a different angle can be found
here.
MANTICORE
AND ELZAK'IR 'The HEART WRENCHER'
February 2004
This model is a mix of parts from WHFB and 40K. The manticore is stock
except for the metal wings from Imrik's Dragon. These wings are IMHO much
better suited to the manticore than the standard dragon wings provided. I
wanted to have his mane be much fuller and with the new legs of the rider this
was actually essential for tying the rider to the beast. For the noble I
used the legs from a Hellion, the upper body of the Dark Eldar lord and the
halberd and hand from an Incubi. The noble has a sea dragon cloak sculpted
so that all his war gear is shown. I decided to have the entire model
standing atop a rocky outcropping with waves crashing below them. This to
further tie into the sea dragon theme. More pictures can be found
here.
LORD
of CHANGE, GREATER DEMON of TZEENCH
November 2003
This is a very spectacular model and when placed in a column of warp fire looks
all the more devastating. This model is designed around the earlier LoC I
did in Gallery IV with some obvious changes. I used the fire tendrils,
found in the dynamic disc of Tzeench model, to very good effect. It looks
as though the demon is rising out of the warp from a column of stone. I
also added four horrors to the base coming out of the fire for increased effect.
A spell effect was placed in the out stretched hand and the neck and staff were
extended. I plan on painting this model with an object source lighting
from the spell effect and base source lighting from the sculpted lava around the
pillar of rock. More pictures can be found
here.
INQUISITOR
SCALE ELDAR HARLEQUIN
November 2003
This model sees some advances in small details used such as the harlequin kiss
wrist weapon, the finger on the trigger of the pistol and the grenade. I
also used a different technique on the hair that results in a more natural look.
This conversion took a number of days since I allowed the green stuff to cure
naturally at room temperature. I find that using a heat lamp causes the
green stuff to 'swell' a bit, resulting in a rounded look for everything.
More pictures can be found here.
BLOTUS the
GLUTTON, LORD of NURGLE
October 2003
This model carries on the tradition of Nurgle sculpts. The pose of the
obliterator base was extensively altered prior to adding any sculpted detail.
The legs were cut off from the torso and then at the knee to remove the thigh
portion. This allowed me to pose the figure standing up right rather than
the crouch that obliterators come with. I then cut off the arms at the
shoulder to allow me to alter the angle of the left hand and so I could add a
tentacle to the right. This model sees a dramatic increase in comfort with
pulling and forming greenstuff. After working with the medium for about 40
minutes it becomes firm enough to pull and subtly reform. This allows for
a more dynamic look to sculpted areas, yielding sharper edges. For a fair
bit of the detail sculpting and pulling and pushing I am using a tool made by a
fellow Golden Demon winner. If you are interested in sculpting I would
strongly recommend this tool since sculpting is all about having the correct
tool for the job. If you send me an e-mail I will give you his e-mail
address. More pictures and sculpting descriptions can be found
here.
TYPHUS, CHAMPION of NURGLE
September 2003
I
have this thing for Nurgle. I just love to sculpt the natural shapes that
are so appropriate for this chaos power. This model has been sculpted on a
crazy Nurgle infested base that was made to look like it was crawling will all
manor of nasty things. His scythe has been repositioned to be at ease in
his right hand. While his left arm is outstretched, holding a marine
helmet. His belly has been sculpted to be massively bloated with his guts
bursting out of the bottom. His left shoulder fly icon has been replaced
by an angry looking fly head. I used one of the banners from
the palanquin of Nurgle as his standard. All in all this model is very
large and looks to be well in the favour of his god. More pics can be
found here.
HERESY NETHER DEMON
2003
I added the wings from the Games Workshop Balrog so that this massive demon
could fly and this required me to resculpt his back. I needed to give him
muscles so that he would look like he was able to use the wings. I also
gave him a halberd instead of the falchion he came with. This required me
to sculpt a twisted and suitably chaotic haft for the new weapon. I also
added a slight bit of musculature to his legs since the gaps in the metal were
quite large. Lastly, I reposed his head and so that it looked right I
resculpted the neck. More Pictures can be seen
here.
