'Becoming more and more of a household name in the world of miniature painting, Jason Richards really cleaned up at this year's Golden Demon Award Ceremony!  Earning a whopping SIX different awards in different categories we're hoping he had some help carrying them all the way home to British Columbia, Canada!'

New Models in
Gallery IX

Chaos Regiment

This website contains the miniature artwork of Jason Richards.

I have been painting for around ten years now and while that is really not very long I have progressed quickly.  I have a very limited artistic background focused solely on sketching.  While at university I stopped sketching altogether to focus on my academic studies.  Once I graduated I was introduced to the game of Warhammer 40K by a good friend and the rest is history.

NEWS

August 13, 2007
I
am finally done the large unit of Confrontation models that will be used as a Chaos warrior regiment for WHFB.  You can find these killers in Gallery IX.

Due to real life time constraints I am no longer going to be doing any contract painting work.  I have had a blast this past decade bringing to life many unique models for collectors all over the world.  I would like to take this opportunity to thank my loyal clients and fans that have allowed me such creative freedom.

I will now be focusing my painting time on competition models and a new tyranid army for me to play around with.

June 20, 2007
I
have added two new models to Gallery IX.  Gorbad Ironclaw from the Ork line of WHFB and 'Tank' from Infinity.  Gorbad is the most impressive Ork model in production.  I can see many past GD entries compiled to create an impressive display leader.  'Tank' is a model done for a friend for use in an RPG.
I am now back to working on the large unit of Confrontation models.  I hope to be done those soon.
In the pipes are a High Elf Dragon and a Space Wolf Lord and small retinue.

June 11, 2007
I
have added two new models to Gallery IX.  Inquisitor Stern and a new Sniper from GW.  I have also added 2 new pictures to the Bench section.
I am not accepting contracts at this time.  Please check back later to see my availability from time to time.
As you can see from the Bench shots I have a largish unit of Rackham Drune models in the works as well as a massive Ork warboss, 'Ironclaw' on boar.  I am also working on my first Infinity model and I must say that I am very impressed with the sculpt and detail.  I expect that this new range of models will do very well based on what I have seen.

May 18, 2007
Well this has been quite a month since my last update.  I moved and have had nothing but trouble with securing an internet connection hence the prolonged absence.  However, I have added three new models to Gallery IX and have a new model 'On the Bench'.  As you can see I have not been idle and I am very happy with the new work.
I have a High Elf Dragon in the pipes as well as the Urban Defender seen in the 'On the Bench' feature.

April 19, 2007
I
have added Nemetis the Sacrilage to Gallery IX and I have also added a new Nurgle Demon Prince to the Sculpting Gallery.  I hope to have daily updates for 'On the Bench' as I work through Lord Cesius the Plaguebringer.

April 10, 2007
I have added three new figures to Gallery IX.  They are from a wide range of factions found in the Confrontation game.  The three models are: Kyrus the Somber, Wandyr and a mounted female bard. They range from dark and moody to bright and cheerful.  I have also added a new feature to the Miniaturespace home page.  I have been asked by a number of folks for a number of years to post more work in progress shots.  The 'On the Bench' section will feature current work in progress.  The WiP shot at the moment is Nemetis, a Devourer Wolfen.

March 14, 2007
I
have added the 54mm Andrea fantasy model to Gallery IX.  I altered the model to be used in an Inquisitor campaign as Inquisitor Uthor.
I have seven Rackham models on my desk at the moment and hope to have most of them up on my site in the coming weeks.

March 7, 2007
I
have added the second of the Apostate of Darkness models to Gallery IX.  I have the Andrea 54mm model altered and converted and should have him up by the end of the week.
I am still working on some cool single models from Rackham and will be painting a unit of 20 Rackham models soon.

February 28, 2007
I
have added the spiked chain conversion to Gallery IX
I should have a number of single models up in Gallery IX soon.  These will include a number of Rackham figures and the 54mm Andrea model.

February 20, 2007
I
have finished one of the Apostates of Darkness and have added him to Gallery IX.  He is a great example of 'tasteful depravity' in that he has what appears to be 'living armour'.  The other apostate will be posted soon along with the RPG conversion.  I have added the RPG conversion to the Sculpting Gallery.  While there is not a lot of sculpting work it does illustrate how minor sculpts can entirely alter the model.  I also have a 54mm Andrea fantasy model on the table.

February 13, 2007
I
have finished two models from Rackham, Eclipsante I from the Devourer range and the Nafarius Clone from the Alchemist range.  Both models can be found in Gallery IX.
Next up are a Rackham model converted for an RPG and two Apostates of Darkness, also from Rackham.

January 23, 2007
I have completed an amazing 54mm female elven archer model.  I have added her to Gallery IX.
Next up is an Eclipsant model from Rackham.

January 18, 2007
I have completed Rekiss the Ripe and an Eldar farseer.  You can see them in Gallery IX.
I am now working on some more Rackham figures as well as some models that are not made by mainstream producers.

January 11, 2007
I
have added a new 40k character model to Gallery IX.  Lucius the Eternal is a fantastic figure with massive amounts of visual detail to bring to life.
I am nearing completion on the massive Nurgle demon prince, Rekiss.  He should be added to Gallery IX in the next update.
For future developments I have a few Eldar figures on the table as well as a couple of Confrontation models.

January 2, 2007
Happy New Year!  I have added Sharut to the newest gallery. Gallery IX is for 2007 and I hope that it should have a lot of figures by the time I get my tenth gallery.

I also added the the very altered Nurgle Demon Prince, Rekiss the Ripe to the Sculpting Gallery.

December 28, 2006
Merry Christmas
and happy holidays to you all.  I hope that the season finds everyone well and happy.
I have added an Inquisitor model to Gallery VIII.  It is the Eldar Scout figure that I painted in a winter scheme.  I converted his head a bit by adding the winter hood and face wrap.
I have also added a new WiP picture of the massive tree to the Sculpting Gallery.
S
hurat is almost done and should be up tomorrow...well I am usually off on the completion but I suspect I will get him done tomorrow.  Man is he an impressive figure.  I will also have sculpting pictures of a Nurgle Demon prince up tomorrow if all goes well.

December 14, 2006
I have added a new model to Gallery VIII and another WiP sculpting piece to the Sculpting Gallery.
I
should have more WiP sculpting pictures of the tree I added today in the coming days.  I will also have the newest Wolfen Devourer, Shurat the Warlord added to Gallery VIII in a few days.

December 7, 2006
I
have added four and a bit models to Gallery VIII and a WiP sculpting piece to the Sculpting Gallery.  This is one of my larger updates in recent months and sees me posting a pretty wide array of pallets and tones.  I must say that I am a huge fan of the Mid-Nor range from Rackham and had a great time painting Yh-Ibenseth.  The work in progress sculpting picture is of a large tree trunk that will be the base for a 2007 GD model.
S
oon to be added to Gallery VIII is Nekhar the Ecstatic from Rackham.

November 7, 2006
I
have added two new models to Gallery VIII.  They are a Carnosaur from GW and Kelen the 13th Voice from Rackham.
I
will be painting some Confrontation models next along with the 2004 GD model.  I will also be starting to sculpt a Wood Elf dragon conversion.  The model will be an entry for 2007 GD.

October 19, 2006
I
have added 3 new models to Gallery VIII.  They are for the Hand of Fate warband that can be found in Gallery IV.  The three models are a large possessed ogre and two beastmen.
I will now be starting on a Carnosaur and will try to fit the Rackham barbarian in during the sculpt and build of the Lizardman model.

October 16, 2006
I
have added the finished minotaur unit to Gallery VIII
I will now be working on a few models for the Hand of Fate warband that you can find in Gallery IV.  After that I have a Carnosaur for the Lizardman army and a Rackham barbarian model to do.

September 23, 2006
I
have added the Wood Elf army standard bearer to Gallery VIII.  She is a great addition to the WE army I did in the beginning of this year.
I hope to have either WiP pictures of the minotuars or finished pics of the minotaurs next week.

September 11, 2006
I
have added 2 new entries into the Sculpting Gallery.  They are an army standard for the Wood Elf army and a unit of Rackham minotaurs for a Beastman army.  I should be done painting the standard bearer in a few days and then I will set about doing the unit.

August 31, 2006
I
have added 2 new models to Gallery VIII.  They are Andel'rion, a Wood Elf mage and Tau Commander Rethian.  Both models are very striking and Rethian is modeled to be in flight.
I should have a Wood Elf battle standard bearer done next.  I am doing a bit of sculpting on the model so I suspect pictures of the greens will be up soon.

August 22, 2006
I
have added Hjorl, Mater of the Hunt, a Space Wolf lord on a pre-heresy bike, to Galley VIII.  This model was converted from a Juggernaught [the bike] and a terminator.
I hope to have the Tau special character done soon.  He has been modeled to be in flight, hovering above the battlefield.

August 9, 2006
I
have added two new entries in Gallery VIII.  They are both from the Rackham line of undead and are amazing examples of their sculpting.  The first is the Coryphaeus model and the second is a group of three Black Paladins.  I did these two entries out of order with the SW 'bike' due to some technical issues I had to research on the SW model.
I should have the SW bike done this week so check back.

August 1, 2006
I
have added two new models to Gallery VIII.  They are both Dark Elf character models from GW.
I have also added another couple of pictures to the Sculpting Gallery of a Space Wolf lord.  He has been converted to be sitting atop a pre-heresy 'bike'.  This model is a character addition to the Space Wolf army as seen in the left margin.
The space wolf is my next immediate painting project but also on the horizon are some undead Rackham models.
I
have been getting some questions about the Golden Demon competitions this year.  I will be unable to attend this year but already have some projects started for next year.  I will be attending Baltimore for sure in '07 and if all goes well then I should finally get to the UK as well.

July 21, 2006
I
have added two new models to Gallery VIII.  The models are two of the new Space Marine characters released by GW recently.  They are both excellent sculpts and really look good with paint on them.

I also added a sculpt picture to the Sculpting Gallery.  The DE noble model is based on a rocky outcropping with waves crashing below.  The Pegasus he is based on is from the Bretonnian line and should paint up awesome with a brooding paint scheme.

Coming up I will have the DE noble that is in the sculpting gallery and a DE sorceress.  I also have an undead Rackham model and a very converted Space Wolf lord on 'bike'.  Check back soon as I start to gear up for an increasing work load.

I decided that I now have time to paint for contract again.  So, if you have a single model or unit you want painted send me an e-mail and I will get back to you as soon as I can.

May 17, 2006
I
have added 7 new models to the Space Wolf army.  They are all Grey Hunters and were done to fill in the two existing packs.  Pictures can be found in Gallery VIII and in the Space Wolf Army Gallery.
I am no longer accepting contracts of any kind.  I will continue to paint in my off hours but no longer have time to work on models for others.  I will continue to occasionally work for long standing clients but the work will be very select.

April 25, 2006
I
am finally done the Forgeworld Chaos Dragon.  This massive model as consumed so much time that it seems like only yesterday that I updated my site.  You can find finished pictures and parting comments here.  You can also find the dragon in Gallery VIII.
Next up are the 7 Space Wolves that will round out the Grey Hunter squads I painted last year.  Then I should be onto some interesting single model projects.

March 21, 2006
I
have been working on the dragon in the past 2 weeks as well as finishing up some single models I have had on my table.  I have added a converted inquisitor and a FW Space Wolf terminator to Gallery VIII.

March 3, 2006
I
have finally added the Chaos Dragon pictures to the site.  You can find them here
I have been working on other figures while I paint on the dragon.  And the first batch are the Incubes du Despote from the Mid Nor range of figures.  They can be found in Gallery VIII.

February 13, 2006
I
have added four new models to Gallery VIII.  Three of the models are from the new Wood Elf line and are painted in a winter scheme.  The fourth model is a Dark Elf assassin painted in a dark brooding pallet.
I have been working steadily on the Forgeworld Chaos Dragon.  I will be posting 20+ pictures in the coming week of work I have done so far.

January 19, 2006
I
am very happy to say that I am done the Wood Elf army.  The treekin and treeman were the final pieces and they are now up in Gallery VIII and the Wood Elf Army page.
I am now sculpting on the massive chaos dragon from FW.  This model is a real beauty [in a nasty kind of way.  I am looking forward to painting it once I fill and resculpt all the seams I will be adding a chaos dragon page in the next day or two.  I will be updating it regularly with images and working thought.  It should be quite an experience.

January 12, 2006
I
have added a new gallery to the site, Gallery VIII.  This will be the gallery where models painted in 2006 will reside.
The last elven unit for the Wood Elf army is done and has been added to Gallery VIII.  The Wild Riders are a mounted unit with a full command section.  Now I only have the custom sculpted tree kin and tree man to paint.
I have had a number of requests to create a Wood Elf page like I did for the Space Wolves and Tau.  So you will now find a Wood Elf tab on the left of the site.
