This is a place where I can showcase the occasional model that other GD
winning painters have sent me for pictures. While I expect this to be an
infrequent occurrence I am still happy to have their work on my site.
This
model was painted some 5 months after the last model with no intervening model.
Darcy is so busy that he rarely gets more than an hour every so often to lay
down paint. I am sure that many of us would go mad with frustration if we
could paint so infrequently. This model is very impressive IMHO. Not
only am I partial, since it is my D&D character but the paint work is sharp.
You can see that his blending is much smoother and his use of the sculpt to
bring out the textures is first rate. I really like the 'shine points' on
the black armour, not something I do but something I might like to try. :)
We are now painting side by side and he kept complaining [in a good way] that my
figure would have to be black and white. Not the easiest colours to do
well. More pics can be found here.
This
model is Darcy's first 'non-gaming' model. Most of us have made the
transition at some point and now that he has I doubt he will go back to army
painting. This model is Darcy's first use of NMM and wet on dry blending.
Prior to this he mostly did line highlighting [a la GW style]. The back of
the model can be found
here.
The first model
is from Tom Schadle [7 time Golden Demon winner] who,
due to schedule conflicts, was unable to attend USGD 2001. The model is an
amazingly painted =I= Eisenhorne that really shows why he is so recognized at
the demons. More pictures along with a commentary from Tom can be
found here. |
