Eldar Phoenix lords

Dark_Reaper_Pheonix_Lord.jpg (35310 bytes)This figure was painted for a painting competition at a GW retail store in Victoria, BC.  At the time I entered it I was considered to be one of the best painters in Prince George.  This figure was done sometime in '98 and while I did get 3rd in the competition I still had a long way to go.  Picture taken with a 35mm camera.

Feugan.JPG (45234 bytes)This figure was an attempt to copy the figure from the codex.  It was quite an effort because as most of you know the 'eavy Meatal painters rarely use standard colours and trying to get the blends correct from a picture in a book is hard.  The use of brown with red in the helmet crest was new for me and I really like the effect.  The brightlance was done with a blend of Gold and silver for an interesting look.

JainZar.JPG (37484 bytes)I decided to go for an oriental 'assassin' look with this figure,  I was experimenting with a very tight palette and harsh contrasts [such as the face and the skin suit].  This was a pretty quick effort and it just goes to show that quick efforts can be learned from.

Karandras.JPG (45994 bytes)My Jamaican paint scheme.  No seriously, I wanted to use colours on the colour wheel that worked well together and found that these two primary colours and the green just clicked.  It is quite a bit brighter than most of the Striking Scorpion lords I have seen but I feel it just draws the eye better.
