XV15 Stealth Suits

I really like the concept of guys jumping around with huge guns evading enemy fire 'cause of the stealth capacity of the suit he is wearing.  I decided to do a unit of 5 of the suits for my tournament army even though I have rarely been impressed with the performance of Elite units in tournament play.  However, I decided from the beginning that this army was gonna look good and if it has to look good loosing then so be it.

Stealth Suits.JPG (85964 bytes)    Stealth Suits side.JPG (115339 bytes)       Stealth Suits side 1.JPG (82711 bytes)     Steath Suits with drones.JPG (73461 bytes)

From these pics you can see that I used the body, legs, head and arms from a Tau fire warrior.  I used the burst cannon from the crisis suit sprue.  The jump pack is the fusion gun end from the crisis suit sprue, the antenna is the barrel from a pulse rifle and the cylinder is the ammo hopper for the cannon.

I detest the plastic rods for troops as they do not give the impression of motion.  So I used some of my thick pinning wire to pose the figures in mid jump, blazing away with their cannons as they go!

The colour scheme is not the scheme for my army but I wanted to do something dark for the 'stealth' aspect.  The camera doesn't really show up the  gloss vs. flat finish effects I did.  Basically all the blue armour is gloss and all the rest is flat.  Very cool 'anime' look IMHO.

The drones for the unit [2 shield drones, hehehehe] have yet to be done but since they benefit from the stealth as well I will paint them the same as the suits.

I have had some feedback that the guns are too big.  To this I reply, 'Pardon?'  I am trying to create an anime look with the Tau and big guns, shiny armour and dynamic poses are pure manga.
