This
figure was done for the on-line painting challenge called VIC [Visions in Colour].
A group of painters form the Yahoo mini-painter list all did the same
figure. Then when everyone was done it was show and tell. Very cool
experience! The model is from the Dark Elf range by GW and is called the
Corsair Champion. His back can be seen here
and a close-up of his face here.
I am very happy with the way the model turned out. His face was amazing to
paint and I really went to town on the use of colour. The highlighting is
extreme to emphasize the dark brooding, and yet regal nature of the
figure. The cloak was done so that each scale looks to be reflecting an
inner light.
I
recently purchased a few D&D Chainmail figures. Over all I must say
that they are of great quality [sculpting and casting] and I have painted the
female dwarf fighter. When I saw this figure I was drawn to it due to her
amazingly dynamic pose. I used only Gold NMM and Silver NMM on the armour
and accessories. Her skin is a base of lightened Bronze Flesh and I think
it gives her a rough look. She is going to be an NPC cleric in our D&D
campaign. The rest of the pictures can be found here.
I
entered this wonderful Celtos figure in the 2nd Annual Female Painting
Challenge. When I painted this figure the index finger of my painting hand
was very stiff and numb. It has caused me all kinds of trouble since and
it was due to simple determination that I was even able to finish the
figure. She is another figure where I used almost entirely Vallejo paints
with extenders. It is also one of my first attempts at a sculpted
base designed to emphasize the figure. I tried for a serpentine feel to
the rock formations. A real pleasure to paint if a bit small at a true
25mm. The front view and back
view can be found here.
This
is a Legend of the Five Rings Clan War figure. I am using him as the
figure for my monk in our D&D campaign. He is one of my first figures
using almost entirely 100% Vallejo paints and extender and I am pretty happy
with the way he turned out. I wanted him to be simple yet polished and
clean [as I see him in the game]. The picture of his back can be found here.
I have started a Tau army for a local RTT in my home town this Nov. 3rd and
4th. I will likely generate a number of photos so I decided to give the
army it's own page. Tau can be found here.
This
is my vision of a terminator Grey Knight for the game Inquisitor. It is
modeled and painted in the manor shown in WD 259. The figure is tall at
about 10.5' game scale and 110mm to the top of his armour in real life. I
decided after doing the codex armour paint scheme that for such a large model
more was needed. I decided to add ornate NMM gold to the armour plates and
I am very happy with the final look.
Painted pictures from all the angles with
commentary are here.
I left one of the pictures at full size for full detail
effect. It is large and may take a bit to load on slower modems [but I
think it is worth it].
Sculpted pictures from all the angles with
commentary are here.
I
decided from the beginning that the demon host/prince I was going to do for
Inquisitor was going to be something different for me. I decided to make
him very red and this meant that I would have to prime in white. Now, I
prime almost all my figures [99%] in black so this was a real challenge since I
am not very proficient at black lining. The reason for this is that the
black line is already done when a figure is primed black so long as you are
careful painting it. The red turned out very well in my opinion and is
likely the brightest figure I have done to date. The figure was based in
Blood Red and then highlighted through yellow to white. It was then
shadowed with a mix of Blood Red and Red Gore. For the pose the figure
needed some sculpting of the shoulders, pecs, lower back, entire right arm and
left bicep. The inspiration for the base and pose was the idea that the
demon was being summoned out of a warp well and as he bursts free warp chains
bind him. The back view and front
facing view can be found here. More pics can be seen here.
This
=I= scale genestealer is a holy terror in HtH, a real stressful enemy for
those irritating space marines. It is my second from scratch sculpt
and I am very happy with it. The paint job, while nice, was rushed
as I did it in only 7 hours so I could take it to USGD 2001 as a display
piece. I used GW Matte varnish on the figure and then brushed on
gloss over the plates. More shots of the stealer are viewable here.
The
=I= space marine Artimis painted as a Crimson Fist. This model was
done as a pre-release almost 2 months before it's general Canadian
release. I chose Crimson Fists because I love the ability of dark
blue to really come to life on a figure if done right. This large
scale allowed me quite a lot of freedom in colour palette and blending
effects. More pictures can be found here.
This
big nasty model is my Ogryn for =I=. I wanted a figure that just
projected power on the table and his, 'come get some' pose does just
that. The arms, assault cannon and dreads are scratch built while
the rest is a collection of bitz. The cammo pattern is done in a
historical way which helps to make the figure look more real. If you
are interested in seeing the other
side and front view select the
links for the facing you want to see.
This
VDR Imperial Guard dreadnought was built and painted in 14 hours. I
did it the day [yes, day!] before our dreadnought battle day at my local
RT store. It has been airbrushed with GW paints and then weathered
in a tradition historical fashion. More pics can be found here.
This
figure is my first Fenryll figure and I just love the pose. It was
done shortly after I got back from USGD in attempt to prove to myself that
I hadn't lost the ability to do 'normal' figures. I did the figure
in three hours and while it is evident that the figure was done quick I am
happy with the result. It is also my first attempt at NMM [non metal
metal] silver. I must say that NMM silver is much harder than NMM
gold but it is something I wish to perfect so I will be doing a fair bit
of it. While the back of the
model is a bit plain I do have a picture of it as well.
This
is the Eversor Assassin I made for Inquisitor. He is a game masters NPC,
although I might include him in a band if the opposing player decided to bring a
Space Marine. This figure is a couple of firsts for me, first painted
base, first texture line highlighting with black. I am happy with the look
and feel of the model and even though the lining of the black is evident it is
still very subdued. I sculpted and painted him over the course of two days
since I needed him for a last minute game. You can see his back
and side as well.
