SPACE WOLF ARMY

From this shot you can see that I went with a massive headsmen's axe. Really makes him look strong and mean. I have yet to finish the base and add his beard at this stage. 'Inside' the base you can see a large piece of metal [stone troll maul head]. This was added to make sure Futhark was solid to the ground during play. For the addition of the beard I will need to grind off some of the detail of his chest. This ensures that I have a 'clean' flat surface to sculpt on.

These shots show the final build and sculpting stage. His bolt pistol is holstered and prominently displayed on the exposed hip for WYSIWYG. I really like the additional depth of character that the beard imparts to the model. I will paint his hair grey/white so that he looks old.

These shots are of the finished Futhark model. I really like the way the sculpt painted and the huge two handed axe really sets the model off. The weapon needed to be different from Battle Leader Skoll since it is rune weapon. This is why I painted rune like patterns on the blade and made lots of contrast at the edges. It really helps to balance the darkness of his armour and to provide a counter point to the lightness of the pelt leather in his right side. He, like Skoll, has NMM gold details. The rest of the army has metallic gold but I felt for the two character models the NMM was needed. It really does brighten up the areas where the gold is painted.
